Enas Farag

Biography

Enas is a first-year Economics PhD student at UIUC. She earned her MS degree in Economics from the University of Utah as a Fulbright scholar. In her master’s thesis, she studied the effect of CVS Health’s acquisition of Target’s pharmacy business on annual posted salary in the affected local labor markets. Enas holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Statistics from Cairo University, Egypt, where she was ranked top 1st among her class.

Enas worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. She assisted in teaching Intermediate Macroeconomics, Money and Banking, Labor Economics, and Mathematical Economics. She previously worked as an Economic Researcher at the Egyptian Competition Authority, where she worked on several antitrust cases and market studies in the following divisions: Food and Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment, and Heavy Industries. In addition, she contributed to drafting a series of policy papers on assessing the Egyptian competition law and policy and how to use it to achieve other macroeconomic goals.

During her four-year undergrad degree, Enas studied abroad at Bard College, NY, for a semester and was the top student in 3 of her classes. In addition, she was the only undergraduate participant from Cairo University in the Summer School on Behavioral and Experimental Economics at the University of Hamburg.
