Our visit to the CBOE on September 21 was an interesting look into the past as well as the present of options markets. We were able to see a couple of open outcry markets that were still in operation. Roma Coldwell Steinke, an Options Institution Instructor, did a nice job of explaining why in today's digital age there are still funds that want the ability to place their order over the phone, typically when it is for extremely large amounts of money or for extremely complex orders that have multiple legs or contingencies attached.
